Seafund is currently raising its second fund with a target corpus of INR 250 crore.
New EV policy may offer firms import tariff relief
New Delhi: A Comprehensive Policy to encourage electric vehicles (EV) manufacturing in the country may give the players the facility to import these vehicles, including as completely built units (CBUs), at concessional tariffs for an initial period, a senior official said. These incentives, however, would be subject to definitive investment obligations in green-field EV plants in the country. The extent of investment obligation as well as the rate of increase in the local content of the sales by EV players would be decided by an inter-ministerial group (IMG), the source said. According to a proposal under consideration, interested auto player will be allowed to import "a certain number of CBUs" in lieu of their investment commitments. However, this number will be regulated in keeping with the actual investments made by the car maker on a periodic basis.

Auto stocks face most FPI selling in first-half of November
Mumbai: Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) sold shares worth ₹9,344 crore across 16 out of the 24 sectors under consideration between November 1 and 15, according to data from National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL). The outflow was highest in automobiles, financial services, power, information technology (IT) and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) while inflows were highest in healthcare, consumer services, realty and other sectors for the period.

The states of Gujarat, which is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home base, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are under consideration because they already have well-established ecosystems for electric vehicles and exports, another person said.

New Honda CB350 confirmed for launch in Japan with a new name and colours
Honda Japan has not revealed details on the GB350 C but the retro roadster is expected to be similar to the Indian version. Power will come from the same 348.36 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine tuned for 20.7 bhp at 5,500 rpm and 29.4 Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm. The motor is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. The retro styling comes from significant design changes over the CB350 H’ness including the extended metal fenders, colour-matched metal fork covers, a peashooter-styled exhaust and brown split seats. Compared to the H’ness, the new CB350 weighs 6 kg more.

Toyota has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Karnataka to set up a third manufacturing plant in India, which would increase its production capacity by 1 lakh units per annum. The upcoming plant will also be situated at Bidadi near Bangalore – near the existing two –and will attract an investment of around Rs 3,300 crores. It will also generate about 2,000 new jobs.
